Current Events Extra Credit. Due March 9, 2012
- Step 1: Find an article in a newspaper, in a magazine, or online about an event related to a topic in Earth Science.
- Step 2: Write a summary or reaction to the article (at least 10 sentences) making sure the connection to Earth Science is explained.
- Step 3: Present your summary to the class. The clarity of your explanation will determine the amount of extra points that will be added to your test grade. The highest amount added will be 15 points.

- Tuesday, February 14-Valentine's Day. Students can wear pink, red or white and Student Council will be selling tattoos during recess for 50 cents. If you bring Valentines, you must bring one for each student. We will be having pizza during lunch.

Your mission report will be graded on the following items. Please use this rubric as a guide and check list to make sure that you have included everything. Each section listed below must be written (or typed) in your own words, and on separate sheets of paper. If you are typing, please use double spacing, and a 12 or 14-point font only. Below is the rubric that will be used to grade your report. Time will be given during the class day to do some of the research, but most of it will be done at home.

Week of Jan. 30- Feb. 3
- Monday, January 30- School Spirit Day. Students can wear free dress as long as they wear the school colors, yellow and blue.
- Thursday, February 2-Social Studies Test Chapter 5
Thursday is also the Winter Concert at 7pm in the auditorium. Students are to wear a dark bottom and white top. No jeans or shorts.
